News FINAL COMMUNIQUE: 2ND SUMMIT OF HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENTS OF THE VOLTA BASIN AUTHORITY (VBA)

The transboundary Volta Basin has a surface area of 400,000 km2 and a population of about 20 million; the basin is shared by six countries, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Togo

To improve the management of natural resources in the basin, the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) was established during the first summit, which was held in Ouagadougou on 19 January 2007.

The second Summit of the Heads of State and Governments of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) was held on 04 June 2017 in Monrovia, Liberia, under the presidency of HE Roch Marc Christian KABORE, President of Burkina Faso, Chairman of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the VBA.
