WELCOME TO THE WEB PORTAL OF THE VOLTA BASIN AUTHORITY This site is for dissemination, exchange and sharing of information on the Volta basin
First CSO / VBA Observatory MEETTING In the framework of the activities of the VBA Observatory for Water Resources and Related Ecosystems, a meeting was held on 13 and 14 December 2012 in Ouagadougou. It was the first meeting between Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and VBA. More than twenty representatives of Civil, Society Organizations from the six Member states, concerned with water resources and environmental management of each national portion of the Volta Basin took part in this meeting. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Technical and Financial partners of VBA, including the French Development Agency and IUCN. This first meeting between the VBA and the Civil Society Organizations enabled the setting of the basis for a mechanism of exchange and dialogue between the Civil Society Organizations and the VBA Observatory as an instrument of improvement of the knowledge base on water resources and related ecosystems of the Volta Basin. Several presentations were made at the meeting including the review of the Draft Cooperation Agreement on the involvement of Civil Society Organizations in the activities of the Volta Basin Observatory. After several recommendations and congratulations in response to this first meeting of the Observatory of the Volta Basin Authority and the CSOs the participants left the meeting with an idea and how to cooperate with VBA and among themselves , and also with a clear view of what support to give to the VBA?Observatory for Water Resources and Related Ecosystems.
